Role Description: Software Engineer in Test

Summary:

This role is within the DevOps Engineering function and plays a key part in testing the Grid Manager web application, Grid Manager command line application, and tools. You will work closely with the DevOps engineers and manager to define strategy and process, bringing automation in line with existing functional aspect of the test effort. This position is responsible for the design and development of automated testing for web application GUI, API layers, and server core functional. You will be responsible for creation, execution, and maintenance of automated test harnesses. In addition to the position is responsible for creating metrics and increasing test coverage using the automated systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with DevOps team to define process and strategy associated with automation.
  • Implement and develop automated test practices for web and command-line applications.
  • Design and implement automated test harnesses to test areas such as server/database impacts, software functional, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, and usability.
  • Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope/delivery dates.
  • Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.

Experience:
  • Five years plus in software QA and automation testing.
  • Proven experience developing automated test systems using Junit or TestNG and Selenium.
  • Experience testing web GUI, web application, command-line application, and system functional.
  • Experience in Java, C#, PHP, and Perl.
  • Experience in SQL server databases and writing some basic SQL queries
  • Solid understanding of object oriented programming, design and debugging skills.
  • Excellent understanding of software design techniques.
  • Experience of source control systems and configuration management.
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies preferable.
  • Ability to deliver quality results in a busy and dynamic business focused environment.
